A body mass index or BMI, an index that compares an individual height and weight is calculated see the correlation to the physical fitness measurement of subjects. If :
(i) The BMI is less than 18.5 (<18.5), the person is underweight.
(ii) The BMI is range from 18.5 to 25, the person is normal.
(iii) The BMI is range from 25 to 30, the person is overweight.
(iv) The BMI is more than 30 (>30), the person is obese.
From the comparison done from the results obtained, BMI does not have any effect to the body erformances and fitness of a person. It only provides the ideal weight a person should have according how tall they are.
However, male is said to have more stamina and performed his best. Besides the physical makeup and differences in hormones of male and female, according to Anne Wolf (registered dietician), men have more lean body mass that their caloric intake is greater[2] but they still can lose weight.
Another reason is that the way of thinking between men and women[2]. Women is said to be emotional while men tend to be linear thinkers that they stick to their goals and rarely get sidetracked unlike females (Wolf, 2009).
In avoiding serious illnesses, prevention is better than cure. There are many healthy habits that can be followed in order to improve one’s fitness and lifestyle. First and foremost is to get sufficient sleep. It is believe that by having six to eight uninterrupted sleep will reduce the risk of getting obesity[3] and helps your mental to stay in focus. In addition, regular exercise is compulsory in controlling one’s physical fitness and body weight as well as increasing strength and flexibility. Simple exercises such as walking, running or cycling for 30 minutes to one hour will contributes in building up stamina.
